On Friday, March 19, Philadelphia Legal Recruiter Stephanie A. Ristvey of SMR Legal Search led a webinar sponsored by ExecSense entitled: What Lawyers Need to Know Before They Accept a Lateral Partner Position.

Ms. Ristvey addressed fiduciary and ethical responsibilities that lawyers often overlook when considering a lateral move, as well as providing a practical guide for lawyers to follow when assessing an offer. She discussed at length the importance of conducting due diligence and the need to explore critical issues involving the firm’s financial picture, culture and management structure, and integration policy. In addition, she stressed the importance of having a business plan and a checklist of the attorney’s values and client considerations.
